The yes set. (an agreement frame)

NLPI’m  primarily referring to it’s use in hypnosis. However this technique is used by sales persons among others. In a hypnosis scenario it can be a simple way to reinforce or enhance suggestions that are given.

This is a method of getting a person to agree to truisms ( statements that they know are true) and then you give your suggestion, (your desired outcome). As they will have gone inside their mind and confirmed to themselves that the first statements are true, chances are they will agree to the next suggestion.

Basically you are getting them to say yes or agree with your statements, as they are agreeable or true for them. Verifiable if you like.. They are then in an agreement frame and more likely to remain there, as you lead them to agree with your suggestions or desired outcome.

It doesn’t mean they will comply every time, the suggestion or statement still has to still be agreeable to them, however if they get into the yes set pattern, they may naturally flow with it. Without even knowing why. This technique simply makes a suggestion appear more rational (agreeable) or make sense to them and therefore tip the balance in your favor, assuming they want to go where you are leading them in the first place.

Examples:

You came here today for xyz. As you lie back and look at the ceiling with your arms in your lap… you can relax now.

Some prefer a cool breeze or the feeling of rain on their skin. While others enjoy the warmth of the sun. …. I wonder if you can enjoy any relaxing sensations that you may notice right now and allow them to take you deeper into trance.
